Sealy Posturepedic And The Sealy Range |
||
Sealy Mattress ReviewsSealy produce a wide range of mattresses spanning all price brackets. Sealy are one of the big three in the mattress business along side Serta and Simmons. Like Serta and Simmons, Sealy have a long tradition of producing good mattresses, and in line with Serta, Sealy have a name for embracing technological advancement and often being at the coal face. Like most big manufacturers, Sealy have their work-horse line of mattresses which account for the lion's share of their sales, in Sealy's case this is the well known Posturepedic. As the name suggests the Posturepedic is aimed at those who are keenly aware of the problems poor support while sleeping can cause. The Posturepedic is a continuously coiled mattress, this basically means that the steel coils can adapt to the alignment of your body better than a series of individual coil springs. A drawback of this continuous coil system is that motion is much more difficult to isolate, as the movement quickly propagates through the continuous coil system. An obvious disadvantage when compared to Simmons Beautyrest mattress, a direct competitor. The Sealy Comfort Series has been developed for the same market as the Simmons Deep Sleep line. It aims to offer Sealy quality at a much reduced price. Sealy have been slightly more successful in this regard than Simmons, as the Comfort Series is a better equipped budget mattress than the Deep Sleep. The Comfort Series uses memory foam on a DuraTech core. This particular core is exceptionally good at portraying the benefits of memory foam. Sealy's SpringFree range of mattresses is principally made up of latex components. The latex comfort layers are supported by a solid latex core. This is a great mattress for asthma suffers as the entirely latex composition is dust-mite as well as mould and bacteria resistant. Sealy also utilise latex in their PurEmbrace line. In this case Sealy use what they call Smart Latex, this reduces heat build-up in the mattress, a common complaint with foam mattresses. The PurEmbrace line is made up of six different models, characterised by their comfort layer firmness. The Winter Grove (Firm), the Autumn Garden (Tight Top Plush), the Atlantic Cedar (Plush Eurotop), the Bethany Orchard (Tight Top Firm), the J asmine River (Ultra Plush Euro Pillowtop) and the Angelica Falls (Cushion Firm Eurotop). These are an extremely luxurious line of mattresses and are priced as such. The final Sealy Mattress line discussed here is the TrueForm. This is Sealy's memory foam mattress line and as such provides all the usual benefits of memory foam, such as good back support and pressure point relief. Sealy have tried to counter the heat build-up issue with the use of Outlast Smart Fabric. This has been reasonably successful, but does not achieve the same effect as the PurEmbrace line of mattresses. However the heat build-up problem has effectively been tackled with the TrueForm, for all but the most heat sensitive sleeper. As a final comment I would have to say that all in all, Sealy have a pretty good range. Like Serta and Simmons they have their strengths and weaknesses, for me one of Sealy's strengths is their budget Comfort Series mattress, this is second to none at the budget end of the market. That said, the Sealy flagship Posturepedic can easily hold its own against the Simmons Beautyrest and the Serta Perfect Sleeper. |
