Under Bed Shoe Storage And Bed Risers |

Better Utilize That Storage Space Under Your Bed With Bed RisersWhen you actually think about it your bed takes up a huge area of your floor space! It really is a massive amount of space that can actually be used to great effect for storage! Most people will end up stuffing things under the bed to get them out of the way, but putting things under in a haphazard way will usually result in only the perimeter 12 to 18 inches being utilised. To get the best of out of the space a more ordered approach is needed, and the best way to do this is by using storage units that can be filled first and then slid or rolled under the bed. A great way of achieving this is the use of bed boxes. A simple and cheap way is to purchase plastic, under bed storage containers; these are cheap and cheerful but do the job. They're made quite shallow so will fit under most beds. An even cheaper solution is the use of 'bed bags'. These are transparent, plastic bags that have a zipper to open and close them, keeping dust and dirt at bay. A clever addition to the market are vacuum packed bags that can reduce the space needed to store bulky items like spare bed linens and winter jackets. These type of vacuum packed bags usually come with their own vacuum pump, which is really just a vacuum cleaner running in reverse. If you're looking for something a little more up market, and want to maintain the look in your bedroom, you can opt for timber storage boxes. These are a little more expensive, but can actually look really well adding to the overall look of the bed itself. If you're good at timber and woodworking, you may be able to make your own boxes for a fraction of the cost. Timber boxes are usually mounted on wheels (roller blade wheels if you're making your own) because they're a bit heavier than plastic containers. If you're finding it tough to source storage containers that will actually fit under your bed, you can get bed risers. These are small blocks onto which your four bed legs sit, essentially just stilts for your bed to raise it further from the floor. Although these are a little less pleasing to the eye and to be honest can look downright ugly, they do solve the problem! While you might like to avoid them in your own bedroom, they're a good option for dorm rooms or spare bedrooms in your house. So if you're tight on space and haven't tapped into the goldmine of space under your bed, get yourself some simple bed storage boxes or bed risers, problem solved! |
